Software/Drivers Questions and Answers
Is there software shipped with my product?
Upon purchase of a Hamamatsu product, your shipment will include your component and/or system as well as any drivers/software if applicable. The drivers and any evaluation software will be included on a CD drive. Always make sure to review the contents listed in the included manual to make sure you received all components and software for your product.
What if I no longer have the original CD containing the drivers/software?
If you have lost the CD containing your product’s software, that’s okay; we understand that between various users, and especially for older products, the CD could have been misplaced or damaged. The easiest way to get a new copy of the software is to reach out to us via our web inquiry page. Fill out the form with your contact information and let us know that you would like a digital copy of the software for your product. Please include:
- Product part number
- One of the following: Original PO number or serial number of the product
We request the PO number and serial number to confirm that you are the original purchaser of the product. Unfortunately, we cannot share copies of our software unless you are the original owner of the product.
Does Hamamatsu provide drivers for cameras?
For our official camera line products such as ORCA-Quest, ORCA-Fire, ORCA-Fusion, ORCA-Spark, etc. we provide DCAM-API, our set of drivers for cameras from our systems division. This software is available in Windows 11 and 10 as well as Linux Ubuntu and Debian. No matter which OS you choose, make sure to consult the Compatibility Note for Windows and Tested Configurations for Linux.

What’s the difference between DCAM-API and DCAM USB?
Along with DCAM-API we also have a driver suite called DCAM USB. While the names share a resemblance, these two are unrelated. As mentioned before, DCAM-API is used for our ORCA camera line, and it even includes USB camera drivers, which is often a point of confusion.

DCAM USB is driver software created for our driver circuits to be used with our image sensors. Compatible products include:
- Driver circuit for CCD image sensor: C11287, C11287-01, C11288, C11288-01, C11160, C11165
- Driver circuit for InGaAs image sensor: C11513
DCAM USB also provides a user manual and an application that allows users to collect data from their image sensor and driver circuit pair.

Meet the engineer
Osiel Vivar is a Software Engineer out of Hamamatsu’s NJ office. During his start at Hamamatsu, Osiel was in the University Support Group and was responsible for supporting customers who had questions on Hamamatsu’s vast array of products and components. Now, Osiel hopes to create interactive software that will allow customers to navigate Hamamatsu’s products and find the right solutions for their applications. Outside of work he enjoys playing soccer, learning about new cultures, and working on independent engineering projects.

1. What are cookies?

2. What are the different types of cookies?

5. What are Internet tags and how do we use them with cookies?
Occasionally, we may use internet tags (also known as action tags, single-pixel GIFs, clear GIFs, invisible GIFs and 1-by-1 GIFs) at this site and may deploy these tags/cookies through a third-party advertising partner or a web analytical service partner which may be located and store the respective information (including your IP-address) in a foreign country. These tags/cookies are placed on both online advertisements that bring users to this site and on different pages of this site. We use this technology to measure the visitors' responses to our sites and the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns (including how many times a page is opened and which information is consulted) as well as to evaluate your use of this website.
